Rogers Sportsnet will have semifinal and final coverage of the tourney on January 8.

WINNIPEG (CP) — The Pierre Charette team of Quebec, ranked 14th on the Ultima World Curling Tour, will replace Ontario’s Wayne Middaugh team, who were a last minute cancellation, at the BDO Classic Canadian Open of Curling in Winnipeg, Jan. 5-8.

The Charette replacement will not affect the schedule and pool draws, as he will fill into Middaugh’s previous slots in the Quintex Uniforms Pool. The pool also features the teams of Glenn Howard, Dave Boehmer, Randy Dutiaume and Bruce Korte.

The 2006 Canadian Open which kicks off next Thursday, is one of four stops in the 2005-2006 Grand Slam of Curling. It will feature 15 of the world’s top teams competing for $100,000 in prize money, with proceeds from the event going to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
