Dec 19, 2005) — CurlTV announced today that they will broadcast live, on the internet, two matches each day from the Canadian Junior National Championships from the Port Arthur Curling Club in Thunder Bay, Ontario between January 21st and 27th, 2006. CBC will televise the final matches on January 28th and 29th. CurlTV’s Season of Champions broadcast schedule includes – The Tim Hortons Brier, The Scott Tournament of Hearts, The Men’s and Women’s World Championships, The Canadian National Junior Championships and The Strauss Canada Cup.

The two jewels of Canadian curling, The Scott Tournament of Hearts from London, Ontario and The Tim Hortons Brier in Regina, Saskatchewan will be covered exclusively by CurlTV. Subscribers to CurlTV will be able to catch the morning round-robin matches from both events which are not available on television by logging on to www.curltv.com. CBC/TSN will televise the afternoon and evening matches and the semi-finals and finals of the events.

CurlTV vice-president, David Nedohin, stated, “We plan to broadcast over 160 games this curling season – - approximately 70 of the games will come from the Season of Champions. Our subscribers have let us know that they are truly amazed by the production quality of our webcasts. They’ve told us that they like the convenience of watching our matches on their home or work computer. Based on the very positive response that we’ve received from the curling community, CurlTV has made arrangements, starting with the BDO in Winnipeg, to double our broadcast equipment inventory and cover more than one match during each draw. Our subscribers have had a direct impact on the ways we can improve curling coverage for them.”

In addition to the Junior’s, CurlTV will webcast two matches each day from the February 2006 Strauss Canada Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia; the Women’s World Championships in March 2006 from Grande Prairie, Alberta and the Men’s World Championships in April 2006 from Lowell, Massachusetts. Curling fans can catch the semi-finals and finals on CBC.

Canadian Curling Association President, Jerry Shoemaker, indicated:
“The CCA is very pleased to extend the viewership options for curling fans through this initiative with CBC and CurlTV. Now fans with access to the internet will be able to follow draws not telecast by TSN or CBC at all of the CCA’s events this year. This is an exciting development for our sport!”

CurlTV also announced an initiative to bring internet-based curling coverage to junior curlers across the country. With support from the Grand Slam of Curling, Manitoba Curling Association, and the Canadian Curling Association, young curlers will be able to log-on for free access to the CurlTV coverage of the 2006 BDO Classic Canadian Open – Grand Slam event from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Juniors can get their log-in and password for the January 5-8, 2006 event by logging on, before January 3, 2006, to the CurlTV website at www.curltv.com.
CurlTV will webcast two matches each day and their coverage will include the event semi-finals exhibition match with an Olympic focus. Rogers Sportsnet will pick up the event semi finals (3 p.m EST) and finals (8
p.m. EST) on January 8th, 2006.

The Manitoba Curling Association will work jointly with the Grand Slam of Curling to implement a program to make tickets available to junior curlers and young potential curlers. “We congratulate the Grand Slam on the initiative it is taking to provide access for our juniors to be present at this great event”, said Ian Staniloff, Executive Director of the Manitoba Curling Association. “The juniors are our future club members and prospective champions. We are delighted to be able to work with the Grand Slam to provide an opportunity for them to attend and watch some of the best curlers in the world competing at the BDO Canadian Open.” Youths (19 years of age and younger) and all junior curlers can apply for BDO Canadian Open tickets at www.curltv.com.

“Building relationships with young people and junior curlers is a focus for the Grand Slam in the months ahead. Every sport is enriched by its link with youth and the next generation of players in the game. The cooperation between CurlTV, the Manitoba Curling Association and the Grand Slam has been outstanding.” stated Paul Boutilier, President of the Grand Slam of Curling. “Using the medium of the internet to catch the attention of younger curlers, and kids in general, is just the start of the Grand Slam’s youth-centered initiatives.”
